What is salvation?

Many people talk about being saved, and salvation, but do they really know and accept what the Scripture says about salvation?
Many understand salvation to be a free gift given by the mercy and grace of YHWH. Many would say that salvation is being delivered from your sins. Many say they want the gift, but do not accept it.

Salvation is life. The gift of salvation freely given, is the gift of reconciliation, it is the opportunity for us to acknowledge and repent of our sins so that we may walk in YHWH's loving Torah (teaching).
We are even given the Ruach HaChodesh (Holy Spirit) as a guide to help us in this walk of life.

Many understand that the consequences of sin is death. Sin is defined in Scripture as Torahlessness (lawlessness).

1Jo 3:4-7 Everyone doing sin also does lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.  And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin.  Everyone staying in Him does not sin. Everyone sinning has neither seen Him nor known Him.  Little children, let no one lead you astray. The one doing righteousness is righteous, even as He is righteous.

Scripture teaches us that as long as we walk in sin, we cannot walk pleasing to Him. Salvation, or eternal life is plainly put: Walking forever within YHWH's Torah. Anything less would be death (sin).

Many limit YHWH's power by saying it is impossible to walk perfectly before YHWH. In one way, they are correct. If we do not have a repentent heart, we cannot walk perfectly before YHWH. If we do not have the guidance of the Ruach HaChodesh, we cannot walk perfectly before YHWH.

Rom 8:1-8 There is, then, now no condemnation to those who are in Messiah יהושע, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.  For the Torah of the Spirit of the life in Messiah יהושע has set me free from the law of sin and of death.
For the Torah being powerless, in that it was weak through the flesh, Elohim, having His own Son in the likeness of flesh of sin, and concerning sin, condemned sin in the flesh, so that the righteousness of the Torah should be completed in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the matters of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the matters of the Spirit.  For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace.
Because the mind of the flesh is enmity towards Elohim, for it does not subject itself to the Torah of Elohim, neither indeed is it able, and those who are in the flesh are unable to please Elohim.

Would we be told to do something impossible? If we repent, and accept the FREE GIFT of salvation (walking in Torah), we ask for the Ruach HaChodesh to be given to us, we are given the means to walk perfectly before Him.

In order to have a proper point of view, we must understand that the WORD (Scriptures) is life! The WORD is also truth! So, in order for us to live, we should realize that life is in the teaching of the Scriptures, and death is in the teaching of anything that conflicts with or goes against Scripture.

Isa 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

1Jo 1:4-6 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.  This then is the message which we have heard of Him, and declare unto you, that Elohim is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.  If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

1Jo 2:1-7 My little children, I write this to you, so that you do not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Intercessor with the Father, יהושע Messiah, a righteous One.  And He Himself is an atoning offering for our sins, and not for ours only but also for all the world.  And by this we know that we know Him, if we guard His commands.  The one who says, "I know Him," and does not guard His commands, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.  But whoever guards His Word, truly the love of Elohim has been perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him.  The one who says he stays in Him ought himself also to walk, even as He walked.  Beloved, I write no fresh command to you, but an old command which you have had from the beginning. The old command is the Word which you heard from the beginning.

Accepting the free gift of salvation means accepting that YHWH's ways are right, and our old ways were wrong. It means being truly repentant, and strongly desiring the change needed. It means asking YHWH for the help He has promised us. We are not freely given this gift because of anything good we have done, but rather because of our sinfulness we have need of YHWH's mercy. Our earlier sinfulness is what separated us from YHWH.

Eph 2:8-10 For by favour you have been saved, through belief, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of Elohim, it is not by works, so that no one should boast.  For we are His workmanship, created in Messiah יהושע unto good works, which Elohim prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

We are warned that we should count the cost. Nothing is without a price.

Luk 14:26-33 "If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, and wife, and children, and brothers, and sisters, and his own life too, he is unable to be My taught one.  "And whoever does not bear his stake and come after Me is unable to be My taught one.  "For who of you, wishing to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it?  "Otherwise, when he has laid the foundation, and is unable to finish it, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, 'This man began to build and was unable to finish.'  "Or what sovereign, going to fight against another sovereign, does not sit down first and take counsel whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand?  "And if not, while the other is still far away, he sends a delegation and asks conditions of peace.  "So, then, everyone of you who does not give up all that he has, is unable to be My taught one.

Where the word hate is used, it is perhaps better to help understand the intention, by saying "love less".
Scripture already tells us not to hate our brother, and honor our father and mother, so is it a contradiction? No, we are simply being told that if we value anything of our old life OVER our renewed life, then we are unable to become Yahshua's taught ones. When we understand that while walking in sin we cannot walk pleasing before YHWH, this becomes very plain.
Does this mean we do not love our family? NO, it means that our top priority is given in the First Great Command:

Mat 22:36-40 "Teacher, which is the great command in the Torah?"  And יהושע said to him, " 'You shall love יהוה your Elohim with all your heart, and with all your being, and with all your mind.'  "This is the first and great command.  "And the second is like it, 'You shall love your neighbour as yourself.'  "On these two commands hang all the Torah and the Prophets."

Loving YHWH FIRST ensures that we love our family and neighbors as well. For those who fail to count the cost, or fail to respect and honor the free gift, there is a warning:

2Pe 2:20-21 For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of the Master and Saviour יהושע Messiah, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the first.  For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the set-apart command delivered unto them.

Heb 6:4-6 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Set-apart Spirit, and have tasted the good Word of Elohim and the powers of the age to come, and fall away, to renew them again to repentance - having impaled for themselves the Son of Elohim again, and put Him to open shame.

Rom 5:8-11 But Elohim proves His own love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Messiah died for us.  Much more then, having now been declared right by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.  For if, being enemies, we were restored to favour with Elohim through the death of His Son, much more, having been restored to favour, we shall be saved by His life.  And not only this, but we also exult in Elohim through our Master יהושע Messiah, through whom we have now received the restoration to favour.

Phi 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

Is there a requirement for us to be able to accept the gift of salvation? YES.

2Th 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

Mat 9:12-13  And Yahshua hearing this, said to them, "Those who are strong have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.   "But go and learn what this means, 'I desire compassion and not offering.' For I did not come to call the righteous to repentance, but sinners."

Mar 1:1-5  The beginning of the Good News of Yahshua Messiah, the Son of Elohim.
As it has been written in the Prophets, "See, I send My messenger before Your face, who shall prepare Your way before You,  a voice of one crying in the wilderness, 'Prepare the way of YHWH, make His paths straight.' "
Yochanan came immersing in the wilderness and proclaiming an immersion of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. And all the country of Yehudah, and those of Yerushalayim, went out to him and were all immersed by him in the Yardĕn River, confessing their sins.

In summary: Salvation is Life, Life is walking in YHWH's Torah. Reconciliation is the gift we are given, purchased by Yahshua's blood.

YHWH bless you as you seek HIS will.
